A deeply-connected author: Sheila Johnson has an incredibly large network that spans business, sports, philanthropy, politics, media and entertainment. She is the co-founder of Black Entertainment Television. She is the only Black woman to have ownership in three professional sports teams: the NBA's Washington Wizards, the NHL's Washington Capitals, and the WNBA's Washington Mystics. She serves on the Board of Governors of The New School at Parsons School of Design in New York and is a board member for the Jackie Robinson Foundation. She is the global ambassador for CARE, a humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. And these are only some of her accolades!

And an inspiring trailblazer: With the sale of BET to Viacom in 1999, Johnson became the first African-American woman billionaire. She then went on to found the Salamander Collection, a luxury hospitality business.
